Kathryn Lancashire is fascinated primarily with two things: birds and stories. When she and her partner go birding they’ve always delighted in seeing the personality and story behind every creature they encounter. Eventually, this led to Kathryn applying this to her artwork and her surrealist “Somebirdies” were born. She strives to make art that inspires you to fill in the blanks and imagine the story behind the scene.
Kathryn primarily works in acrylic, watercolour and in a digital format. Her “Somebodies” are her passion project but she also enjoys rendering more realistic birds in her “Bird Bouquet” series as well as the odd pet portrait.
Kathryn also regularly practices daily art with her ‘Twenty Minute Art’ projects which are daily pieces, limited to only 20 minutes. Her “Twenty Minutes with Nature” series went for 600 days and depicted scenes of nature in gouache. Currently, she’s working on an autobiographical series called “Twenty Minutes with Kat”.
